 Yom Kippur, known as the “Day of Atonement,” is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It occurs on the tenth day of the month of Tishrei, following Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  Yom Kippur concludes with the Ne’ilah service, which means “closing,” symbolizing the closing of the gates of Heaven. This is followed by the final blowing of the shofar, a ram’s horn, marking the end of the fast and the conclusion of the day of atonement. After Yom Kippur, it is customary for Jewish families to break the fast with a light meal, sharing a sense of renewal and hope for the year ahead.
