A Western Massachusetts town has been named one of the most “christmassy” towns in America. Stockbridge joins seventy five other towns in the U.S. where the holiday season is ripe with traditions that folks travel near and far to experience, breaking the top ten. Mixbook.com surveyed three thousand families to find out which holiday-rich destinations families would want to join most during the holiday season, ranking the top ten on its “America’s Favorite ‘Christmassy’ Towns 2023” list.
Located in the Berkshires, Stockbridge ranked number seven on the list. The town is described by mixbook.com as a living postcard during the holiday season. “The main street, resembling Rockwell’s famous painting, is festooned with festive decorations and lights, evoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth,” the report says. “Stockbridge’s unique appeal during the holidays is further enhanced by its historic homes and buildings, which are meticulously decorated and often open for tours, offering a glimpse into the town’s rich history and traditions.”
Locals, don’t worry, the report made note of the highlight of the season Stockbridge’s Main Street at Christmas event “where the town reenacts the scene from Rockwell’s painting, complete with vintage automobiles and period attire, bringing the artwork to life.” Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, was named the most Christmassy, followed by Durango, Colorado, and Lake Placid, New York. Stowe, Vermont, and Alexandria, Virginia, rounded out the top five.
