BOSTON– The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Daniel O. Roop, PE, of Tighe & Bond as a winner of their 2021 Young Professional Award. Roop is an Environmental Engineer and Project Manager at Tighe & Bond, where he assists communities in prioritizing risk based capital improvements for their water and wastewater infrastructure. In addition to working on a wide variety of projects, he has also helped over fifteen Massachusetts communities secure more than $2M in total grant funding through MassDEP and the Mass Clean Water Trust Asset Management Grant Program. He has presented this work at several industry conferences and workshops, and champions asset management within the firm.
Roop serves as Chair of the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) Asset Management Committee and past chair of the Committee Member Appreciation Committee. He is also active in the American Water Works Association (AWWA) as a Member of the Standards Committee on Biosolids and as a Young Professional Member of the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA). He has participated in seven Pan-Mass Challenges, personally raising over $40,000 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute and is now training for his second Boston Marathon to help support the Boston Sports Museum’s Boston vs. Bullies anti bullying program. Roop is also a five time Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition Against the Tide participant and donor. He deeply believes in the impact of charitable work and hopes his participation will inspire others to do the same, including his two young daughters.
The 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards were recently announced and were celebrated at the virtual ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala. The awards celebrate innovation, ingenuity, and excellence in engineering achievement. “We congratulate Daniel on this well deserved recognition for his achievements on the job and in the community,” said Scott A. Miller PE, President of ACEC/MA and Vice President and Regional Vice President for Haley Ward. “His hard work and dedication to his practice make him a great role model for young people entering the engineering profession.”

You can buy your first home or condo with confidence knowing that your MABA buyer agent is committed to saving you time and money and helping you make your best home buying decision.
Who Pays the Home Buyer's Agent?
Both seller's agent fees and buyer agent's fees are part of a typical real estate transaction and are included in the final negotiated purchase price of the property. There should be no additional fees to the buyer for a buyer's agent above and beyond the negotiated purchase price of a home unless specifically agreed in writing between the buyer and agent before an offer is made.
In most cases, the seller's agent pays the buyer's agent for bringing the buyer, negotiating the purchase price and terms, writing a legally correct offer, coordinating inspections, responses, and financing plus handling numerous additional details on the buyer's side of the transaction.
Buyers should avoid contacting seller's agents and sellers directly unless they are comfortable negotiating and representing themselves. That is why it is important for buyers to choose their agents BEFORE they begin looking at homes or as soon as possible if they have begun looking.
Did you know that fewer than one percent of the agents and brokers in Massachusetts have committed to being 100% loyal to their buyers 100% of the time?
